Wise Women Awards

COVID forced us to take a new approach to our Wise Women Awards program, so we decided to step back and review the program this year. We would like to know what you think about this program - whether it should continue as is, continue with changes, or if we should discontinue the Wise Women Awards program altogether.

The Status of Women Council of the NWT has been recognizing women for their achievements and contributions to improving the lives of women and building strong communities through the Wise Women Awards since 1992. These awards are meant to honour strong women who are role models in their communities, as well as recognize their dedication and commitment to improving the status of women. The Wise Women Awards are intended to encourage and celebrate women, in particular those who contribute to the Council’s mandate of advancing equality of women in the territory. We have recognized 131 Wise Women since 1992 and enjoy celebrating their contributions and achievements.
